BADSOI - Limitless (Nujabes Type Beat)
I want to share a little story here:
I discovered Nujabes’ music through a friend of mine and it was the start of a true obsession with an artist’s music. This happens less and less for me now, not for lack of exploration but every now and then you’ll discover an artist at a point in time where their music resonates with your experiences almost as though the artist wrote it for you personally. For me that song was Luv(Sic) pt 3, then again with pt 5, then again with Hikari, and the list goes on. It feels as though when a Nujabes record is on, the rest of the world becomes a little quieter.
I’ve always enjoyed Lofi Hip-Hop, but it wasn’t until Nujabes that I really became interested in the genre on a technical level, beyond youtube livestreams and video game remixes. I became interested in the ability of the genre to make you “feel” something, or remember someone… To slow your breathing and imagine the grass and sky even though you’re in an office, or behind a laptop, or finishing up at your coffee job.
I don’t describe Limitless as a Nujabes inspired beat lightly, and I hope I was able to show my respect to his beautiful collection of songs while working the magic that Nujabes did, evoking emotion through music. I hope the sounds of soft jazz and a dusty beat remind you of simpler, warmer, and more comforting times.
