Paragliding Airdesign Pure 3 into the Jurassic Valley
Flying from Beechmont Qld to the NSW Border on the Pure 3.
Jurassic Valley
It wasn't predicted to be a very good day, no climbs and very OD cloud cover, with light ene winds.
The forecasters got one thing right there was a lot of cloud cover.
Jan, Chris and myself set up and made our way to launch,
it looked soarable so Jan then Chris and myself took to the air, Jan quickly found a climb in strong north winds and
radioed he was at base and headed to the west. I watched as Chris headed to the north of our top landing and sky rocketed vertically to the heavens.
Not wanting to join that elevator
I headed to the sth of launch and searched, it didn't take long. I soon was also at base 1260m and swiftly headed down the Jurassic Valley towards NSW. A swift and smooth glide to
prison farm ridge then another climb to base. another quick glide to Ship stern Bluff where I knew there would be lift, sadly the bluff was not working and no thermals were kicking off
so a hasty but correct decision was made and I headed further into the abyss, ten minutes of ridgesoar and a small patch of sun appeared in the valley, so I pushed out and found a climb.
Not a great climb but it took me back up to 1100m+ and I turned and burned for the boarder.
Shade and more shade was all I found and had to make a untimely exit from what started out as an Amazing flight,
Face landing on the ridge to the right of the tick gate. I made it to the boarder, very happy with the flight on the Pure 3 which is just going from strength to strength in
any conditions.
