"Summit Trench" was part of the Hindenburg Line, on a low hill between Croisilles and Henin. This battle cemetery is 90 metres west of the site of the trench (see final slide) and was made at the end of August 1918 by the 56th (London) Division. Summit Trench Cemetery contains 74 First World War burials, five of them unidentified.

The cemetery was designed by N A Rew.

The pictures shown here were taken on 17 July 2024 using a Sony A7R IV camera body and a Sony FE16-35mm GM lens.

The music is the Salvator Mundi from the Howells Requiem performed by Conspirare.

The trench map is courtesy of the National Library of Scotland.
