How to rebuild the Spotlight index in Mac OS Sonoma, Ventura, Monterey, Mojave, etc.

Step 1:
Rebuilding Spotlight in Mac Sonoma: A Step-by-Step Guide. Rebuilding Spotlight is straightforward.

Step 2:
Click on the Apple logo on the top left of the Mac screen and then open system settings.

Step 3:
Now navigate to Siri & Spotlight, and select Spotlight Privacy.

Step 4:
Next, add the Macintosh HD, or your main drive, to the Privacy list.

Step 5:
This action temporarily removes it from Spotlight’s search index.

Step 6:
After a few moments, remove the drive from the Privacy list. This prompts Spotlight to start reindexing the entire drive from scratch.

Step 7:
Reindexing might take some time, depending on the amount of data. You can check the progress by typing something into the Spotlight search bar.

Step 8:
Once reindexing is complete, you’ll notice a significant improvement in search performance.
