The Legendary Dragons of Westeros, Explored
Did you know that according to semi-canon sources, and the Game of Thrones books, Westeros may have had a few legendary dragons, including a water dragon and an ice dragon? And these legendary dragons would dwarf even the mightiest of beasts like Balerion the Black Dread, and must have existed before the Targaryens or the First Men arrived in Westeros. Furthermore, these dragons have immense significance in the Westerosi lore, history, and culture. In this video we will explore these beautiful beasts who once prowled the surface and the depths.

Number 1. Naga
According to the Ironborn legends and religious doctrines, Nagga, a fearsome sea dragon of unparalleled power, prowled the vast ocean depths. It was so huge and fierce that it fed on krakens and leviathans with ease. It is said that the first king of the Ironborn, called the Grey King, was aided by the Drowned God, who is the god of the Ironborn. The Grey King fought Nagga upon the shores of the island, which is now known as Old Wyk. Ultimately, the Grey King emerged victorious and killed the sea dragon. From the remains of Nagga's dead body, the Grey King made his grand hall. Furthermore, the bones of Nagga and her jaws were transformed into the Grey King’s throne.

Number 2, The Ice Dragon
According to legends from the North, Ice Dragons roamed the frigid lands between the Shivering Sea and the White Waste. These extraordinary beings are said to dwarf the Valyrian dragons in size, and were formed out of living ice. The Ice Dragons are undoubtedly beautiful and elegant; their eyes shimmer with the pale blue brilliance of crystal, while their vast, translucent wings are another spectacle. Furthermore, their breath is ice-cold fire. Contrary to what many believe, these mythical beings may be more than figments of imagination. Old Nan, the storyteller of Winterfell, wove tales of ice dragons to Lord Eddard Stark's children. But Maester Margate believes that Ice Dragon might just be a reality and that the legends surrounding Cannibal Bay, may in fact, be distorted accounts of encounters with ice dragons.

Number 3, Urrax
Urrax, a legendary dragon believed to have existed during the era of the First Men, holds a prominent place in Westerosi folklore and songs. According to these tales, the valiant Serwyn achieved a remarkable feat by rescuing Princess Daeryssa from the clutches of giants.
Serwyn's daring act culminated in the slaying of Urrax, the formidable dragon. Serwyn used a cunning strategy to overcome the mighty beast. Utilizing a polished shield to his advantage, he approached Urrax from behind, ensuring that the dragon beheld only its own reflection. With precision and bravery, Serwyn impaled the dragon through its eye, ultimately triumphing over the fearsome Urrax.
