“Don’t think much, just hit the upload button”, is his message to his younger self. The first Youtuber in India to hit one million subscribers and have Shah Rukh Khan as his first guest, his journey makes us realize the power of content and the impact of social media in a digitally booming India!
“Great can come out of anywhere and anytime.” Bhuvan Bam is the living embodiment of this quote. A journey that started with a selfie mode cam in a room in his house upstairs, found its worthy place in the hearts and laughs of every human being living in India and even borders across.
Effortlessly wearing multiple hats, he is an actor, comedian, singer-songwriter, guitarist and an entrepreneur. In 2012, he started performing at a restaurant in his hometown Delhi and then in 2015, began uploading short comedy videos on his YouTube channel. He was inspired by the emergence of ‘Vines’ in the United States and started making sketches out of pure fun and curiosity.
Starring in a short film, ‘Plus Minus’, it earned him a lot of laurels and a Filmfare award. In 2020, he was named in Forbes’ 30 Under 30 List and now is venturing into mainstream movies and OTT projects. He recently finished his much awaited and equally celebrated web series - Dhindora, that was written and curated by Bhuvan himself and is currently preparing for its next season.
In the time we got to understand his journey and YouTube career, he shared with us his philosophy of life and the love for his parents. An emotional ride, with light and fun moments in between, this conversation is sure to give you a tour inside a creative brain which made us all laugh. But somewhere deep inside, his art is helping him fight personal struggles and stay kind to his heart.
