When I first came to Kanpur, I had nothing. Mai railway station pe sota tha, kabhi khana khata tha kabhi bhukhe pet hi so jata tha. One day, while I was loitering outside a coaching centre, one of the teachers saw me and asked what I was doing. I said, ‘Sir, I want to study, par mere paas paise nahi hai.’ So he said, ‘I’ll teach you.’ He took me in, free of cost. I would sweep the place in the mornings and study with master ji whenever he had the time.
So when I was done studying and had to decide what I wanted my future to look like… the decision was simple: I wanted to pay forward and teach those who couldn’t afford education. And for the last 33 years, I’ve been teaching underprivileged kids… because I believe education belongs to everyone regardless of where and to whom you are born.
