Laurence Bishnoi is an Indian gangster who gained notoriety for his involvement in organized crime worldwide. He was born in 1992 in Abohar, Punjab, into the Bishnoi community, which traditionally emphasizes non-violence and environmental conservation. Bishnoi studied at Panjab University, Chandigarh, where he initially became involved in student politics. During his university years, he began associating with local criminal elements.
He soon formed his own gang with more than 700 international contractual shooters, engaging in extortion, smuggling, and other illicit activities, spreading his influence across the world and Indian states, especially Punjab, Rajasthan, and Haryana. Bishnoi's gang became one of the most feared in the region, involved in violent confrontations with rival gangs and accused of multiple murders.
In 2022 and 24 simultaneously his gang was linked to the murder of popular Punjabi singer Sidhu Moosewala and political leader of NCP, Baba Siddique, drawing nationwide attention. Despite being imprisoned in the Sabarmati jail of Gujrat, Bishnoi is believed to continue running his criminal operations from behind bars, communicating through associates. His defiant public image, along with his criminal activities, has made him infamous, with law enforcement viewing him as one of India’s most dangerous gangsters.
