SCP-2574 - What Rough Beast (Short Horror SCP Film)
This incident took place in a remote, abandoned town in southern China.
A group of tourists in search of gasoline for a car entered an abandoned town. They didn't know that this town used to be the Area 19 - one of the Foundation's leading research areas in China.
But what led to the abandonment of Area 19?
As with many other Zone closures, the Foundation was unable to contain the anomalous creature.
This is was SCP-2574.
The Foundation tried to tame the creature, for this purpose a special drug was developed and administered to D-class employees.
But there were no successful results, except for one.
Only one woman was able to survive the drug and became capable of controlling SCP-2574.
But the resentment against the Foundation for its careless treatment of her has grown strong. The employee attacked the Area 19 joined by SCP-2574.
Thus, the Area 19 turned into a ghost town in the middle of the Chinese desert, becoming a perfect place for SCP-2574 population growth.
Objects do not exhibit great mental abilities, and therefore can be manipulated and tricked by certain gimmicks.
Tourists have put a great effort in trying to survive. Some succeeded, some did not.
SCP-2574 hunted for fresh meat, as they were very hungry. Objects can go for a very long time without food, but their hunger grows.
The former Foundation employee initially thought that the tourists were the representatives of the Foundation attempting to regain control of Area 19, which is why she set SCP-2574 to hunt them. But when the woman realized that they were just ordinary people, she went to confront her wards, as SCP-2574 were set on having a snack of several tourists.
After saving tourists, the woman fell into a coma, in which she remains to this day. If Foundation staff can bring her back to consciousness, we may learn more about the nature of SCP-2574.
