Présentation festival :
“In the international festival palette, Balaton Sound has always occupied a unique place with its outstanding services, waterfront and water-based venues and star headliners. However, this year's Balaton Sound was even better, with an even stronger VIP life at the festival,” said Zoltán Fülöp, Chief Organizer.
This year, there were four VIP venues for visitors, including a vintage circus, tropical jungle and even a French Riviera – not to mention the VIP location of the new Dreher Arena.
The festival’s brand-new venue, The Club, debuted with great success: “where the underground electronic music renaissance could be heard”, stated Norbert Lobenwein, the founder and main organizer of the festival.
The terrace venue on the beach of Lake Balaton was continuously full, from sunset to sunrise. With Marco Carola, Matador and Hernan Cattaneo inside, the crowd fluttered to The Club which held up to 1,500 people in an Ibiza-inspired venue.
Global sensations The Chainsmokers came through with a special live show this year, and Marshmello, a Gen-Z favorite, was also a huge hit.
In addition to the biggest artists in the electronic music scene, a large cohort of the most exciting names in urban music were represented, including Future, Denzel Curry and the Designer show.
2019 also saw Elrow once again bring its world-class colorful audio-visual cinematic production. Giant puppets, artists and stilts appeared in the program, creating a Berlin-techno vibe, featuring Paul Kalkbrenner and the iconic figure of the Belgian underground scene, Claptone.
Sustainability and living in harmony with the environment are clear goals for Balaton Sound. As part of the eco-conscious program, the festival started a tree-planting program and gave 10 trees to Zamárdi.
In light of last year's success, the Safety First program for a safe festival continued this year with nearly 80 volunteers, including several foreigners. This year's innovations also included the new SoundWatch feature created within the Balaton Sound app, which allowed festival-goers to see where the nearest Safety First point was located. Conveniently, if attendees were unable to visit a Safety First point, they could ask for help directly through SoundWatch, either by calling or messaging an emergency number. SoundWatch was used by many visitors who reported various cases through the app, which greatly helped the work of health and safety workers.
