To perform the first variation, called the classic version, you need to assume a sitting position on your buttocks. The surface you're performing the exercise on should be fleecy to create additional resistance and increase friction. During the exercise, your back should be straight and your elbows bent at an angle. Your legs should be spread so they're shoulder-width apart. Maximally contract your gluteal and leg muscles. Next, move your left leg forward, placing all your weight on it, keeping your elbows close to your body. Then, repeat the same movement with your right leg. It's important to maintain a straight back for maximum effectiveness.
