Say goodbye to stitching issues after watching this video!

As a dental technician, I sometimes receive scan files with stitching issues from clinics. To help you increase the accuracy of scan results, I have some intraoral scanning tips to share with you.

👉 First, overlapping scanning surfaces is the key. Please follow the scanning path in the video and try to capture at least 70% of the denture in one scan. Even though 3Shape TRIOS 5 Wireless has a ScanAssist feature, it needs a reference to put scanned images together. If scanning by sections, you may experience stitching issues and distorted scan results.

👉 Secondly, if you want to copy the exactly same denture that your patient has, you have to scan the denture all around. On the other hand, if you want to make a new denture with new teeth set up, there is no need to scan everything. Scanning the intaglio surface and some of the buccal/facial sides will be enough to obtain information on the existing denture.

👉 Lastly, please send a patient's smile photo with an old denture scan file. It will be very helpful for dental labs to get detailed information.

Please watch the video and learn how to avoid stitching issues and get an accurate scan result for full dentures!
