A rare sight in California. The heavy bloom is enough to perfume the surrounding air. This tree was near 30' . I was surprised that I saw no thorns on this mature tree and very few on a smaller tree nearby. It was alive with hundreds of bumble bees which I rarely see these days at lower elevations. The constant humming can be heard. This tree stood alone on a small hill and stood out from hundreds of yards away. One of those outstanding moments
