Archival footage, insights from historians, and fictional scenes meticulously reconstruct the personal and intimate journeys of five key figures in the Resistance: Jean Moulin, a leading figure who organized and unified the Resistance; Henry Frenay, founder of one of the most important movements in the Free Zone; Berty Albrecht, creator of a social service to help prisoners; Gilbert Renault, a secret agent whose information changed the course of the war; and George Beaufils, a member of the Communist Party. These individuals are portrayed in a narrative told in the present tense, allowing viewers to grasp what it meant at the time to "join the Resistance."
