The Language of Photography
Over the past few months, I've been brewing over this idea of Photography being a language – something I had heard many others photographers say, but never truly understood.
To help me understand this concept better, I broke down the different elements of Photography in the same way other languages are broken down: by their grammar, syntax and vocabulary.
Despite all the effort in trying to make the interpretation of Photography an objective matter, in the end I had to settle for an ambiguous answer.
Still, I do think that learning about how Photography resembles a language, can help us improve our techniques and understanding of what the heck it is that we are doing with our cameras.
