Many everyday objects are becoming embedded with sensors giving them the ability to communicate data with one another. Almost any device with an electrical pulse can become Internet-enabled, allowing data to be shared and reported in new ways.
With these developments, it begs questions about how all of the data will be mined to create useful conclusions, what technologies will be integrated into our everyday lives, what some of the privacy implications may be, and where the real business opportunities lie.
Brier Dudley, technology columnist for The Seattle Times will moderate our talented speakers.
Zia Yusuf, CEO of Streetline, will open our panel by discussing how sensors, connectivity, and software can make problems such as finding a parking spot a thing of the past. This presentation will launch a larger discussion on the technological implications of the Internet of Things, as compared and contrasted by our esteemed panel of experts:
Stefan Weitz, Director of Bing Search, Microsoft Corporation
Scott Sedlik, Vice President of Marketing, INRIX
Joshua Smith, Associate Professor, Computer Science and Engineering, Electrical Engineering, University of Washington
