I am Venezuelan - Armando Medina
A day trip that promised to be unforgettable turned their lives upside down in October 2020, and since then Ainhoa Garate and Armando Medina (@medina.ink) have clung to the small miracles that the purest and truest love offers them every day.
In Soy Venezolano, @nandasalas tells us the story of this young Venezuelan couple, who have lived in the Dominican Republic since 2017, and the miracle of Armando's survival after being poisoned by adulterated rum.

Armando Medina survived methanol poisoning perpetrated by a tour company on an excursion to Saona Island in the Dominican Republic.
The tour guides offered the group adulterated drinks (Cleren disguised as legal Dominican rum).
At the Elohim Medical Center (Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic), Armando underwent multiple dialysis treatments to save his life.
He was in a coma for two weeks, with serious brain damage.
Some unscrupulous tourism companies use drinks laced with methanol to cut costs, despite the high risk of death.
Many tourists have recently died from this cause.
None of the doctors who examined Armando guaranteed that he would live or that he would make a full recovery.
Doctors have emphasized that many patients in similar circumstances do not survive.
He is slowly recovering from the brain damage.
