ok we’re all gonna collectively ignore that the style changes drastically at the end, ok?? lets just collectively all pretend I didn’t hang this project out to dry for two months
oh gosh I always have lots to say up until it’s time to write the description so I’ll try to form my thoughts coherently
I love Vi, she’s one of my favorite Arcane characters, and the original intent of this project was to make a silly little caitvi animatic focusing on their relationship in season two and their respective arcs buuut as it turns out… trying to put two entire characters arcs made up of several hours of content into less than a minute is REALLY HARD and ends up not representing their stories accurately? Big mistake on my part wow
Not only that, but my views on Caitvi have changed in the ~4 months since I watched arcane and started the project, making this video even LESS accurate to them as I was kiiinda looking through rose colored glasses for most of this project? Anyways to make a long story short, I ended up changing the ending of this video into something a little sadder, since Vi (in my opinion) got handed a reaaally crummy ending by the writers, as Caitlyn never apologized for her actions or made any moves towards trying to actually assist and rebuild Zaun, making it seem like her actions were somehow justified and she got away with a slap on the wrist? Don’t get me wrong, losing her mother had a huge emotional toll on her, but that by no means, in any scenario, justifies CHEMICAL WARFARE?? TO FIND ONE PERSON?? Anyways, to reflect how Vi might’ve felt ending up completely isolated from her home and family, with no one left but the woman who gassed her people, I made the ending more bittersweet, with a recreation of the shot of her watching the fireplace as she remembers her sister and everything she lost hoorayyyy
TLDR: this took too long, things changed and I think Caitlyn deserved more of a punishment for her actions, now the ending is sad
