At the centre of most galaxies is a supermassive black hole, an incredibly dense area that sucks in any star or planet foolish enough to go near it.
Black holes would appear invisible to the human eye as their gravitational forces are so strong that not even light can escape their grasp.
But now scientists believe they have taken the world's first photo of the 'point of no return' that surrounds a black hole called the 'event horizon'.
