After the capital, Rhodes, the island's most famous town is Lindos, an ancient town inhabited since 3000 BC.
Lindos's main attraction is its Acropolis, dating back to the 4th century BC. Built on a small hill accessible on foot or by mule, it offers breathtaking views of the sea and the city.
Here, too, the Knights of Rhodes left their mark on history, building an imposing wall that encircles and protects the entire Acropolis and a large castle, part of which is open to visitors.
A very important religious center in ancient Greece was the Temple of Athena Lindia, of which only a few columns and the base that once housed a statue dedicated to the goddess remain.
In ancient times, even Alexander the Great made pilgrimages there.
In the evening, Lindos transforms like most Greek tourist resorts, and its many resorts, clubs, discos and discotheques enliven the night and fill it with high society.
