Zelda Breath of the Wild in REAL VR: How to Install and Play | BetterVR Mod Review
A New Year's gift! The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild, our favorite Zelda hero, is now in full first-person VR with the BetterVR mod!
Full 6DoF first-person VR;
6DoF weapons in your hands - you really hit with your hands;
Bow - aim with your head;
Throwing weapons and objects - aim with your head;
Torches work: you can hold, light, and shine;
First-person climbing with the stick (look up);
Swimming with the stick (look up to see your stamina);
Chests open;

The game is a true first-person VR Zelda BotW, with a full sense of scale. The combat, despite its rough edges, is quite enjoyable. I much prefer jumping back in first person :)
The CPU is the bottleneck, so with a decent graphics card, you can set the resolution higher (2K-4L). On my Ryzen 5600 and 3070ti, the game runs at 35-40 fps. Enabling ASW Spacewarp in Virtual Desktop (vdxr openxr) gives me a more or less stable 72 fps. I haven't played with the settings yet, but I can definitely tweak them for greater stability.
And what about the future? The future will be even better. I wouldn't be surprised if in 2-3 years they release a great build optimized for standalone launch on Steam Frame :)
Installation:
Download the BetterVR mod archive from GitHub: https://github.com/Crementif/BotW-Bet...
Read the installation instructions there;
Flash the latest version of CEMU to your WiiU (not Switch!) from your licensed personal WiiU console;
Copy the mod files to the CEMU root folder;
Check the necessary boxes in CEMU (read the instructions);
Run CEMU only through the mod's .bat file (not the native CEMU.exe)
Play in VR!
I recommend everyone try it; it's really cool (though not perfect).
