2024 VR Newcomer: The Pimax Crystal Light headset is a solid choice for hardcore PCVR simmers!

I tried the Pimax Crystal Light for the first time and quickly compared it to the Pimax Crystal:
The Light is half the price (~800 USD vs. 1600 USD);
The resolution, lenses, and FOV of the Crystal Light are just as sharp as the Crystal (2880x2880, 35 PPD, ~103 horizontal FOV, aspherical glass lenses);
The connection is cable-only (Display Port, good picture; no need for a battery on the back of the head)
It weighs 1.5 times less! 815 grams for the CL vs. 1200 grams for the Crystal. It feels significantly lighter and more comfortable.
No eye tracking (a very small list of games supported tracking and DFR as of 2024);
There's no "standalone" mode (the older Crystal has one, but it's practically useless).
In the end, the Crystal Light is a very competent, "lightweight" model, half the price of the original Crystal, but with the same great visuals as before.
Don't forget, to fully utilize the headset's resolution in VR, you'll need a very good graphics card (my 3070ti isn't quite up to par).
For casual VR players and casual simulator gamers, I still recommend the Quest 3, as the most versatile headset with excellent visuals (though not as good as the Pimax Crystal Light) for less money (and less demanding on your PC's graphics card, as the Quest 3's resolution is significantly lower).
