Trouble Connecting GENIUS REMOTE to Wi-Fi Remote? Try This!
Learn how to seamlessly connect your Phone to the GENIUS REMOTE APP. We'll guide you through properly plugging in the remote and following specific steps in the GENIUS REMOTE app for a successful configuration.
STEPS:
1. Wi-Fi Connection: Check that the Wi Fi band your phone is connected to, and on which you are trying to add the device, is a 2.4GHz band. It will not operate on 5 GHz
2. Check the Plug: Check that the remote is plugged to the adapter and it into a socket either directly or through the cradle. The Wi Fi will not operate if it’s not.
3. If both checks above are completed and the unit fails to connect to the app, please try this alternate method of connecting.
Please follow the order of the configuration steps:
A. Open the app on your device and sign in. The First screen will show “Device List”;
B. Click on the “+Add Device”
C. The next screen is titled configure device and offers 3 choices: Click on the “AC Remote Controller”.
If the app shows “Allow ‘GENIUS REMOTE’ to use your location?”, please click on “Allow While Using App”, otherwise the connection will fail.
D. The next screen will show method 1. Ignore these and click “Next”
E. The next screen is titled “Configure Device”. If your phone has connected with the WI-FI stably. Your connected WIFI router will display automatically, and please enter the corresponding password. DO NOT CLICK ON THE ‘CONFIGURATE’ BUTTON AT THIS TIME!
Note: If the WIFI router does not display on the screen automatically, please go back and check the previous steps. Otherwise, the connection will fail.
F. WITHOUT CLOSING THE APP, go to WLAN settings on your phone (where you see the Available Networks)
G. Now go to the remote control and press simultaneously the LIGHT and SET Buttons, until “02” flashes on the screen.
H. Release both buttons. After a few seconds a Wi-Fi symbol should start flashing rapidly on the bottom left of the control’s screen. If it doesn’t, repeat step G until it does.
I. Now go back to the phone and, under available networks, find the one called “Chunghop_XXXX” and connect to it.
J. If you get a message telling you that “Internet is not available on this hotspot and unsecured”, please ignore it. If you are asked whether you want to switch to another network that does have internet, decline, and stay connected to “Chunghop_XXXX”
K. Go back to the GENIUS Remote APP on your phone and now click on the “CONFIGURATE” button. You should get a message of a successful connection and the device should appear
on your device list, and you could edit the name of the r
emote device.
L. Test all functions.
