So, in order to test BetterComb by Betterbee, I first introduce you to the product and how I install it.
Then a swarm of bees shows up right on time for the testing.
I have placed BetterComb into four of my hives so far.
I show the install of the swarm and the follow up to share how and if the honeybees use this new synthetic comb.
The short answer is, yes, the bees to accept and use the pre-drawn honeycomb from BetterBee.
They have put resources in it, they have mended and altered it just as they would with their own beeswax.
Less than a month in they have larvae of all stages of development and are using the cells for eggs, nectar, and pollen.
I placed a torn sheet of synthetic drawn comb and I cannot tell where it was damaged. The bees clean, shape, and restore the synthetic comb just as they do with their own beeswax cells.
I'm an instant fan and definitely recommend BetterBee Comb. aka BetterComb.
