In this tutorial you will learn how to generate and render realistic, fluffy fabric materials in V-Ray for 3dsMax. We will be going through the general workflow of using the new sheen effects in the VRayMtl, discuss ways of generating fabric pattern by using bump/normalmaps or displacement maps for additional detail. We will also work with the VRay MultiSubTex Node and VRayFur to finalize our shaders. We will use some basic techniques first on a simple cloth object and then later on work with a toy model in order to apply those concept on a more interesting and production ready asset.
I am using 3ds Max and V-Ray 5 in this demo which are required to use the new sheen effects which were not present in previous versions of V-Ray.
