Artemis, goddess of the hunt and the moon, and Orion, a great hunter, fell in love. Out of jealousy or to protect his sister, Apollo one day called Artemis and pointed to a small bright spot in the ocean in the distance. Pretending to be worried, he asked Artemis to hit him with one of her arrows, telling her that it was a giant scorpion that threatened the lands and the inhabitants.
Artemis, believing her brother's lie, drew her bow and shot her most accurate arrow. The arrow reached its target, but it was not a scorpion. To her horror, Artemis realized that she had killed her beloved Orion.
After his death, Orion, together with his dog Sirius, was placed among the stars by Artemis as a constellation. Scorpius was also placed among the stars as the constellation Scorpius, so that the two enemies were separated in the sky.
“Wild Romance” is inspired by this story.
