MATERIALS:
masking tape
marker
5 small disposable plastic cups
5 (old dull) coins
water
cola
diluted liquid dishwashing detergent (1/2 teaspoon detergent in 1 cup of water)
vinegar
fresh calamansi/lemon juice
plastic spoon
paper towel
PROCEDURE:
1. Label the five cups as follows: (cola, calamansi/lemon, detergent, vinegar, water).
2. Place a coin in each cup.
3. Pour enough liquid (cola, calamansi/lemon, detergent, vinegar, water) in the labeled cups so that each coin is completely covered.
4. Leave the setups overnight.
5. Use a plastic spoon to remove the coin from the cup with water and observe how it looks. Write your observations in the table below.
6. Polish the coin with the paper towel. Observe what happens and write your observations in the table (in the experiment paper in the link given below).
7. Repeat steps 5 and 6 for the other coins. Again, record the observations in the table.
