Sound tests from the Focusrite Scarlett 2i2 Gen 4 audio interface review. Also included is the microphone included with the Focusrite Scarlett 2i2 Studio Gen 4.
The Focusrite Scarlett 2i2 is a two-channel USB 2.0 audio interface for home studios. It features low-noise preamps with sensitivity up to 69 dB and converters with a dynamic range of 120 dB and a 24-bit/192 kHz sampling rate. The preamps feature an Air mode, which emphasizes the upper frequency range and creates a sense of air in the mix. The 1/4" input jacks are suitable for recording high-impedance signals, such as guitar or bass, eliminating the need for a DI box or amplifier.
To simplify audio recording, Auto Gain and Clip Safe features prevent clipping and automatically adjust the input signal sensitivity. A Loopback function is available for streaming and recording samples from a computer. The card's circuitry ensures latency-free monitoring.
The audio card comes with a software suite: Pro Tools Artist and Ableton Live Lite DAWs, Focusrite Hitmaker Expansion plug-in suite, Auto-Tune Access, Softube Marshall Silver Jubilee 2555, Native Instruments MASSIVE, and virtual processing instruments. A two-month subscription to the LANDR mastering service is also available.
