'Relentless' is the title track from the debut EP by Melbourne based drummer Chris Cameron (Acolyte, The Rookies). The EP blends his two worlds of progressive rock and jazz, with two longer form compositions exploring his ambidextrous approach to drum kit performance and a message of the times: that the pace of our lives is indeed relentless and we all need to reevaluate, take a breath, and live for our true purposes not those demanded of us by the surrounding culture. Featuring vocals by Micheal Mills (Toehider) and Morgan-Leigh Brown (Acolyte).

RELENTLESS
Music & Lyrics by Chris Cameron
VERSE ONE
Slapped in the face
All of the day
Information
I can’t process
the relentless
flow in my mind I really don’t have the time
To post online
All of the things
That might look cool
Even my food
Although I know it’s a trap
This hyper world
I find myself
Part of the flock
A number downloaded and used
For someone’s gain
In some weird game
That no one wins
VERSE TWO
When I get home
So much to do
I just can’t stop
I don’t know how
People clock off
And then turn off I really have to confess
I just pursue
All of the ways
To reach success
Hoping to find
Fulfilment but there’s no rest
All of my apps
Notify me
Give me a sec
Just let me be I can’t go on
Is it a con?
To consume more?
And no one wins?
CHORUS ONE
Thrown by the ways of the world
And robbed of sight
I have all the answers
But when will they transform my life
Searching, racing
Gradually loosing my mind
Slowly drifting away
To just pass time
CHORUS TWO
Thrown by the ways of the world
And robbed of sight
You have all the answers
But when will they transform your life
Searching, racing
Gradually loosing your mind
Slowly drifting away
To just pass time
BRIDGE ONE
Keep up
No rest
Don’t Stop
What was that?
Take a look!
Over there!
Opportunity!
Update
Upgrade
New stuff
Jump on board!
Don’t miss out!
Or you’ll fall way behind
Reboot
Reload
Refresh
Take a pill
Push on through
And ignore any warning
Must keep
On track
Or else
I’ll loose
My sense
Of self
Is this life that we burn through our sanity
Must we strive just be who we are
Slave and stress are the mark of society
It’s ok we’ll have self-driving cars
BRIDGE TWO
Time is not your enemy
You’re reaching out
To feel normal and so much more
Try and slow it down again
And take a breath
Reconnecting with your true home
VERSE THREE
What happens now
How can I find
A peace of mind
And take control
Holding it back
Staying on track
But I want to give in
To feel the spin
To not say no
And run the race
Keep up the pace
And feeling good all the time
Is that the goal?
I don’t think so
Out of control
Am I really up to this fight
How will I know
How I will go
And can I win?
VERSE FOUR
Checking my feed
Rumour of war
All stocks are up
Been here before
So the world dies
Before our eyes and if
Cash is the king
Inside the ring
You may as well
Throw in the towel
And head on home
But something has to be done
Starts with just one
Looking beyond
Up from the throng
Can it be that it’s more than me
Why can’t we see
That we were made
For more than this
CHORUS THREE
Thrown by the ways of the world
And robbed of sight
We have all the answers
But when will they transform our lives
Searching, racing
Gradually loosing our minds
Slowly drifting away
To just pass time
OUTRO
Here we are in a land: Opportunity
Overwhelmed by the weight of it all
Many roads and the call of prosperity
Caught in the race of the ways of the world
Time rolls on and we fall to conformity
Stay this path and risk losing you soul
Slow down or drown
Ahh
Just slow down
Peace of mind
Inside
