Gauge Pressure and Absolute Pressure
Absolute pressure is the total force per unit area exerted on an object, including atmospheric pressure. Gauge pressure, on the other hand, is the pressure relative to atmospheric pressure, and is commonly used in industrial and engineering applications. In other words, gauge pressure is equal to the difference between absolute pressure and atmospheric pressure.
