Testing testing
Just a random video of me demonstrating the current progress for splitting Global Theme into Global Theme and Desktop Layout for Feren OS's Plasma 5.18.2.
Currently all that's done is the split of Vanilla 5.18's Global Theme code into the two KCMs, meaning no extra Feren OS code has been added back into these KCMs yet, leading to me not demonstrating Cupertino Layout, Ubuntu Unity Layout, etc with these.).
I do have plans to make this into an upstream patch, however there's one major blocker for that: I don't know where in Plasma's source code the code for determining the layout to apply to your desktop, if HOME/.config/plasma-org.kde.plasma.desktop-appletsrc doesn't exist when plasmashell is starting up, is. If I can find that code, and find out where in that code it looks for the value of LookAndFeelPackage in kdeglobals, I can then tweak code around the patch (for splitting these into two KCMs upstream) to make this patch reliable for upstream-ability. That and I'm still figuring out how I'm going to handle lookandfeeltool and desktoplayouttool properly. If anyone knows where that code is, please let me know.
This KCM split incarnation is currently just making Desktop Layout set LookAndFeelPackage while making Global Theme set a new value called GlobalThemePackage due to that aforementioned line in Plasma's code for constructing the layout of the desktop if no appletsrc file exists.
PS: Chances are Plasma might in the future have a separate Desktop Layout KCM page upstream.
Why haven't I edited the video? Eh, it's obvious in what it's demonstrating, and to be frank one I'm feeling lazy with videos right now and two editing hides the current faults with this implementation so far.
FYI: The wallpaper was just something that was added by the Silicon Global Theme.
