It operates in the unlicensed 2.4GHz band and uses frequency hopping technique. It was originally conceived as a wireless alternative to RS-232 data cables. It connects handheld devices like printers, mobiles, laptops and other accessories in the 10m-100m range. The range of applications is staggering, from simple toys to consumer electronic products to industrial automation.
