Canggu (pronounced chun-goo) is a village in the southwest coast of Bali just north of Seminyak. It is a rural area that is rapidly growing due to the quality of the waves and the quietness that contradicts that of Kuta, the main tourist part of Bali. This calm characteristic and the less expensive land is prompting many new luxury villas and houses that have been popping up in the area.
Although the nightlife is not the most sought after, Canggu has some places that are worth checking out. Deus Ex-Machina has live music and a display of cool motorcycles, bicycles and surfboards. It also has a half pipe on the back where skaters gather around to get their fix. Another place that is a landmark is Old Man’s in Echo Beach. It is located right on the waterfront, making it the surfers’ hangout spot. Some of the main attractions are the beer pong tournaments and the live reggae music.
