How Neurons Communicate: Transient Pores in Hemifusion Diaphragms

In order to move material across two membranes, it is convenient to merge the membranes, forming a 'hemifusion diaphragm' (HD) then create a pore in the HD to allow material to pass. As part of a quantitative synaptology project, we investigated mechanisms by which cells can control the stability and dynamics of these pores.
Note the on-screen correction at 12:18. I meant to say 'greater' not 'smaller'.
