Saamarth (Sam) immigrated to Canada from India on February 12, 2020 - about one month before COVID-19 struck and the world shut down. Well-educated, Sam had a MBA degree and a successful career as a Financial Analyst, but no amount of experience could prepare him for the challenges of job hunting in a new country during a pandemic.
Sam discovered JVS Toronto’s newcomer employment services through a flyer delivered to his door. He work with an Employment Specialist to create a Canadian-style resume and cover letter, and practiced his interview skills. He learned about networking online and meet with employers in the Finance and Accounting sector.
Today, Sam is working in a senior level position in his field. His future goals include “working in a managerial role at a bank” and starting his own YouTube channel to mentor other newcomers build their careers in Canada.
