Follow me as I take on the cheeky chop, this ride has been running for years. There are some others in the afternoon too, that hold no prisoners especially with the wind. But this chop is an hour-long, high-speed bunchie, its the ultimate proving ground and test of grit. The price of admission? An average of 352 Watts for 50 relentless minutes.
This is a weekly training ride, and it's brutal. I've been focusing on VO2 30/15s recently and this is exactly what this ride is like if you are rolling turns. You better trust the person in front, you'll see what it's like to hang inches from the wheel of some of the fastest riders in the Sydney, fighting to survive. It's a zero-sum game: you either meet the effort or you're out. You can always jump back on as this is just a continuous loop, so its a great training ride.
Usually I'm getting spat out on these rides or just sitting in sucking wheels, but today was different, maybe structured training truly is paying off? Possibly my best performance on a ride to date, everything worked out, the legs felt great and I definitely had more to give. New power pb's as well...
Hope you enjoy this video as we dive deep into the Sydney cycling scene. Happy viewing!
