Interview with Petter Berndalen
For two decades the Stockholm-based drummer/percussionist Petter Berndalen has been fashioning his own unique approach to drumming, merging his highly idiosyncratic and sophisticated technique on drums with the folk music of Sweden. By designing his own sticks, developing a distinctive set of drums, tambourines, cymbals, bells and other sounds, as well as cultivating a unique rhythmic and melodic approach to drumming, Petter has managed to create a wholly individualistic drumming style that transcends simply being an accompaniment to this music. Without a doubt, Petter is among the most creative and unique drummers in the international drumset/drumming community.
Petter also runs his own record label (Playing with Music) and recording studio.
