Here's me testing out my Midas MR18 digital mixer last Saturday. Our drummer Aizad was unfortunately unable to make it due to prior commitments — but luckily ‪@najibjeeby4182‬ here is actually a drummer (who only moonlights as a bassist in my band)! 😜

I brought my one and only mic, my trusty 15+ year old Shure SM57, and Jeeby brought a pair of Behringer C2 condensers for overheads and some Stagg SM57s.

Although we had more than enough mic stands for the mics, turns out we didn’t have enough XLR cables between us to mic ‘em all up! 🤦‍♂️ (Ok also I wasn’t entirely confident my ancient dual-core MacBook Air could handle too many tracks at once… 🤪)

Anyhow… we settled on a basic 4-mic setup with the Shure SM57 on snare, a Stagg SM57 clone on kick, and the Behringer C2s on overheads in an XY pattern. First results seem promising, although next time we’ll probably try a spaced pair configuration for the overheads to get a wider stereo image… 🤔

…and bring more XLR cables for tom mics! 🤘😎🤘
