Step 1
Make sure your bottle is chilled. (Tip: To quickly chill your bottle, place it in a bucket of ice water with a generous amount of salt.)
Step 2
Remove the foil to reveal the cage and cork. There is usually a tab on the foil that you can pull around the top for easy removal.
Step 3
Grip the neck of the bottle and with the same hand place your thumb on top securing the cork.
Step 4
Untwist the cage counterclockwise and then loosen the cage around the cork. Make sure to secure the cork with your thumb while doing this step.
Step 5
Hold the bottle at a 45 degree angle with one hand holding it at the base and your stronger hand gripping the cork. (Tip: you can cover the bottle with a serviette/bar towel to ensure you will catch the cork and for any mess)
Step 6
Begin to twist the bottle clockwise with the hand at the base of the bottle slightly pulling away from the cork. This will gradually loosen the cork until it comes free. Pop!
Cheers!
