Around 12 million years ago, a giant sea was disconnected from the world's oceans. Spanning across southern europe and northwestern asia, the Megalake Paratethys was the largest lake to ever exist. This giant lake was home to a variety of marine mammals, including the worlds smallest baleen whale!
