During the recent SCM Partner Summit, Eleanora Barkun, Global Marketing Head at LeverX Group, shared her experience of visiting the SAP Pop-Up Factory. She highlighted the significance of witnessing modern technologies in real-time helping businesses digitalize their processes, especially in the discrete manufacturing and process industry. The exhibit showcases the potential of IT solutions in simplifying business automation, offering a priceless opportunity to look into the future.
The Industry 4.0 Pop-Up Factory is a physical exhibit featuring a complete production line for mixing and filling liquids, driverless transport systems, and robots that assist workers in the production process. It caters to customers in the process manufacturing sector, such as chemicals, pharmaceuticals, and consumer goods, as well as discrete manufacturing, including machinery, vehicles, and electronics. SAP's smart factory showcases have expanded over the years and can now be viewed in one location as a pop-up installation in rented premises.
The exhibit aims to provide customers with a hands-on experience of the digital supply chain, demonstrating software capabilities through all stages of the product life cycle, including product design, planning, manufacturing, logistics, and maintenance. SAP positions itself as a leader in digital and integrated supply chains by showcasing its extensive range of solutions for end-to-end processes.
The pop-up factory uses genuine equipment and machinery, employing the same SAP products delivered to customers. Although not all exhibits are new, the new factory enables SAP to consolidate all its showcases in a single location and present realistic end-to-end scenarios. Ralf Lehmann, Solution Management for Digital Manufacturing and Industry 4.0, explains that the new factory unifies everything under one roof, allowing SAP to demonstrate the breadth of its portfolio of solutions.
