Yuri Slonov: The Wave is Noisy, the String is Ringing
Phillip Sear plays an arrangement by its composer, the Russian Soviet musician Yuri Slonov (1906-81) of his song 'Шумит волна, звенит струна'.

Yuri Slonov (Юрий Михайлович Слонов) was born in Moscow, and studied at the conservatory there under Anatoly Alexandrov, graduating in 1936. Before, and during his time at the conservatory he provided music for silent films, and also headed the music department at the Moscow Youth Theatre. He saw war service in the Black Sea fleet of the Soviet Navy. He is best-known as a songwriter and composer of dance music, and you can read more about him here: tinyurl.com/ykxs9wtm This was one of his best-known songs, inspired by his time in the Navy.
