You CAN fix this 2014 Chevy Equinox Ecotec timing chain issue as a clueless DIYer!

2014 Chevy Equinox with the 2.4 Ecotec engine. P0016, crank no start. Figured out after troubleshooting I had a broken timing chain guide but is this a project a weekend DIYer with little experience can do? Technically, yes. I did. But it took me 3 weeks and I had plenty of fix or flight moments as this was WAY over my head. Here are my tips and the best 5 videos I watched over and over to get it done. You can do it too!
My suggestion and tips for other clueless DIYers that like a challenge. Watch a couple of these videos i'm listing all the way through first. Don't jump the gun. Get an idea of the lay of the land of what you are getting into. Several videos will go over steps and seemingly skip or not address something but minutes later will talk about it ex post facto that will save you a lot of heartache, pain and stress. Example, the timing chain gasket under the car and how to get it out cause it will appear to be STUCK! Trust me, just watch a few of these all the way though.
Then proceed step by step. Take your time. And if you don't pay for Youtube premium, I suggest spend the extra few dollars for the month so that you don't drive yourself crazy and mental with all the ads. It's awful if you are trying to go back and forth, step by step, with the ads.
The one problem I think a lot of us very inexperienced DIYers when watching some of these videos is there are some basic things said and done that the creators making the videos will assume we know or know how to do. We don't! LOL. Explain to us like we are 5 years old please!
You will also come across something specific to your vehicle experience that will not get addressed in all of these videos. But it will get addressed in at least one of them. That's what I found! Several times. It's impossible for these fantastic creators to cover everything so no shade here! Just make sure to watch through as many as you can all the way through before getting started!
