Wow! Abandoned Railroad Tunnel 1800's Carrolltown Pa Penna Turnpike design
I discovered this abandoned railroad tunnel today from the late 1800's What's unique about it is there's no face no stones no brick-all you can see is the wooden supports. This was part of the Susquehanna Branch of the PRR. It was called the Strittmatter tunnel. If you wanted to know what the original Pennsylvania Turnpike tunnels look like in construction this is exactly what they looked like. Closed for good in the 1970s. Locals stated it was built cheaply from the start
