Natine Macauley L'25, Sadie Scholar
Meet our Sadie Scholar Class of 2025! From Silver Spring, Maryland, Natine Macauley L'25 graduated from American University with honors in International Studies and African American and African Diaspora Studies. Natine is passionate about racial equity, women’s rights, diverse experiences of the African diaspora, and Black unity. Prior to joining Penn Carey Law, Natine conducted research on race, art, and resistance in Havana, Cuba, studied abroad as a Benjamin A. Gilman Scholar and interning at the Talia Agler Girls’ Shelter in Kenya. She also interned at NT Lakis, a DC-based employment law firm, and worked for Arnold & Porter in their DC office as a Legal Resource Assistant in the Appellate and Supreme Court practice area. Natine is interested in Intellectual Property Law focusing on trademark and copyright law. She is a member of the Black Law Students Association (BLSA) and the Custody and Support Assistance Clinic (CASAC), a student pro bono project that helps Philadelphians navigate the child custody system.
About The Dr. Sadie T. M. Alexander Scholarship
As part of our commitment to advancing equity and inclusion, the University of Pennsylvania Carey Law School established the Dr. Sadie T. M. Alexander Scholarship in February of 2021; the first Sadie Scholars joined the Law School the following fall. Five full scholarships are awarded annually to applicants who demonstrate the greatest potential to honor Dr. Alexander’s legacy of cross-disciplinary academic achievement and professional success, and who embody the pathbreaking spirit and resilience evident in Dr. Alexander’s many accomplishments.
