Top 10 Adult Movies That Were Rated R
In this video, we will show you a top 10 list of the best adult movies that were rated R. For a long time, the R rating was considered the kiss of death to any movie which wanted to make serious money at the box office because it meant you were going to cut out a huge portion of your paying audience being able to see your work. But with that negative comes a lot of positives too as a R rating can allow a movie to go further than it would in other circumstances.
Sometimes this can mean pushing the boundaries of comedy to its extremes, as was the case for 2004’s Team America: World Police, a scathing satire of the American military ideology from Trey Parker and Matt Stone, the creators of South Park. And sometimes it can also just mean going further with sexual content, as happened with not only 1999’s comedy classic American Pie, but also in 1992’s dark and twisted romance Basic Instinct.
Of course, sometimes thematic reasons can be why a director chooses to go R rated, with the story they’re telling requiring it to go to darker places. And if you need any evidence of that, you need only look at 2000’s twisted dark comedy about a serial killer American Psycho. In fact, this was one of those R rated movies which seemed to benefit from the rating as it created a sense of danger around the movie and made audiences want to tune in all the more as they became curious over what all the fuss was about.
