Open Studio Redesigned the Shop Pants: Before & After
The Open Studio Shop pants were re-released in August 2024. The email announcement stated, "If you’ve already sewn a pair (or several), there's no need to change a thing. But if the pattern is still on your make list, you'll now have more size options to choose from." However, they failed to mention that they also completely redesigned the pattern. The original pattern fit sizes 1 to 7 with hip measurements from 34-1/2 to 48-3/4 inches. The updated and redesigned pattern fits sizes 00 to 40 with hip measurements from 35 to 69 inches. The following video shows the fit differences between the old and newly redesigned pattern. The pants are rendered using VStitcher on the size 7 (41 W / 51 H) avatar with a heavy-weight denim fabric. I’ve added red balance lines in the renderings to illustrate how the garment drapes on the body standing, walking, and sitting.
