When crossed arms means "Tell me more"
Here's a short audio clip from my talk at the Association of Language Companies' 2016 Conference in San Diego.
When someone crosses or folds their arms while they're listening to you talk, it's not always a negative sign. There may be many reasons why a person may do this - they could be cold, they could be more comfortable with folded arms in the position they're sitting, or they might just be giving your words more attention.
Are you explaining a complex concept? Have you introduced a factor they hadn't considered before? Are you explaining the financial benefits of a course of action you recommend? If so, folded arms might be a sign for you to provide more details or expand on your explanation.
