System Restore is a feature that automatically creates a copy of the system state as a “restore point” to protect the hard drive’s data. However, you can always create a copy of your computer's working state manually.
If something happens, you can use System Restore to recover your computer to the last known working state by applying a restore point.

⚡Is System Restore a backup solution?
No, System Restore isn't a backup application for Windows 11. You can use it to create a backup of the Registry, but you cannot use it to restore files.
