David Bowie Vittel Commercial Edit
I took the HD version and the extended version of the Vittel commercial featuring David Bowie and David Brighton and combined them together.
I will try to explain what I did and why to the best of my ability . . .
Though the extended version is amazing (mainly because of Bowie patting himself on the head and growling at his doggy self) I have not found an HD version and noticed that it differed from the shorter version.
These differences (in order) are
the extended version doesn't have Aladdin Sane in the second mirror when Bowie's sitting on the bed and only has Bowie's normal image again, while the short version does have Aladdin
*unlike the short version the extended version has Bowie patting Tommy on the stairs and Tommy alone on the stairs after Bowie walks by, but doesn't have the close up of Tommy looking away from Bowie like the short version does
*the extended version has Halloween Jack's heels running unlike the short version and him going up the stairs but for some reason doesn't show his face like the short version does, also the scene in the short version happens right after Tommy's while in the extended it happens after the kitchen scene and I feel that it fits best after Tommy's scene since they're both on the stairs and it flows better
*in the short version Bowie gets the water, then looks at the camera and in the extended he gets the water then shakes it
*in the extended version Bowie goes to his coat from the stairs and in the short one he doesn't
*in the extended version the Diamond Dog barks while Aladdin Sane looks over the stair well, the short version doesn't have the bark and Aladdin is placed after Bowie's interaction with the Diamond Dog instead of before
*in the extended version Bowie turns around, the dog growls and he growls back, in the short version the dog growls and Bowie rises his eyebrows
*Bowie walks out the door, for both versions they are the same, however the extended version had a second more added to the beginning and end of the action
*the short version has a voice over for the ad, the extended does not
So naturally I love both versions. Having all the Bowies together is a thing I always imagined and dreamed of so to actually see in live action with the REAL BOWIE is the best thing I have ever seen in my entire life. But I wished there could be an ultimate version where everything in both happens! So I decided to fuse them together and make the ultimate version myself!
It was easy to piece the scenes together. But it was very difficult to extend the audio to fit the moments that I made longer and still have the music match up with the parts that could not be muted because of other audio (footsteps, barking, Bowie growls, Bowie shushing) But after a lot of layering and cutting and pasting I got it to the best that I could get it. I am very happy with it. I think I got it to a point where you can't tell where the audio cuts are and it flows. I was also able to edit out the voice over for the ad by using the extended version's audio for the back end.
I swear if it weren't for the majestic Diamond Doggo sounds and Bowie's awesomely funny and adorable growl back I would have totally just muted it all and put the actual song over it and this edit would have been sooo easy. But no.
So I hope all that made sense. Sorry this description is long. I suck at explaining things but I felt that I had to attempt to explain what I did so people know. So yeah. Sorry again. There, I've done it. Enjoy! :)
